With the recent wet weather and factoring conditions, a modified route has been posted. The overall riding distance has remained relatively the same but we have colour marked the route for safety and also introduced the Veloguide KOM/QOM prize. In addition, we have made careful notice of some Caution areas where speed will need be managed and where the route has narrowed due to erosion. The placements of the Clif Bar / Nuun Hydration Aid Stations are shown so that riders can plan their refueling. Here is a breakdown of the Route:
Neutral Start Heading West from Clearhue road
Turn Right (North) on Shawnigan Lake Road - Neutral Start with RCMP Escort
Turn Left (West) on Oland Road and immediately Turn Right (North) on the Cowichan Valley Regional Trail - Neutral Start
Heading North on CV Trail and Turn West Renfrew Road - Neutral Start with RCMP Escort
km4 - Turn Left (Southwest) onto Kapoor Main - TIMING STARTS
km11 - Steep Climb - Veloguide KOM Start
km16 - Steep Climb - Veloguide KOM Finish
km20 - Clif Bar / Nuun Aid Station #1, Turn right onto K-Line or Koksilah Main
km36 - Follow K-Line North, turn right (East) onto M-Line
km40 - CAUTION STEEP DESCENT AND SHARP RIGHT. SLOW DOWN Follow marked route South onto Crescent Main.
km45 - CAUTION NARROW SECTION FROM EROSION. SLOW DOWN AND STAY LEFT
km50 - CAUTION STEEP DESCENT AND SHARP LEFT. SLOW DOWN
km53 - Follow road North and Stay Left to merge on Wild Deer Main
km58 - Stay right onto Holt Main Road.
km67 - Clif Bar / Nuun Aid Station #2 - Cycle Therapy
km68 - Turn Sharp Right to access Cowichan Valley Trail
km77 - Finish North of Kinsol Trestle - TIMING FINISH
km79 to km84 - Neutral Ride back to Camp Pringle. Finished riders will gradually make their way back to Camp Pringle for awards and dinner reception. Watch for walkers on Kinsol Trestle. Obey stop signs and watch for traffic.
